Chromebook or laptop?
If your have a small child a Chromebook is a good choice: they are inexpensive, boot up quickly, lightweight, come with a good amount of cloud-based storage, long battery life, and the Google Chrome OS. The disadvantages of limited storage, limited gaming and software choices, and compatibility will likely not be a big concern initially. However, if you plan your child to use Word, Adobe software, or simply avoid compatibility concern a Windows PC world be a proven solution.
Regardless of the choice, a touch screen and ability to convert to a tablet might be some worthwhile features that a young child would appreciate. We had a really good luck with Samsung chromebooks like this one:
Samsung Chromebook Plus 12.2″ FHD WUXGA Touchscreen 2-in-1
For older children a laptop might be a better choice: they run Windows or Mac OS, have a good amount of attached storage, and can accommodate most video games and other types of software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and many others.
Headphones and Glasses
Our teacher suggested these, and we loved them as well. They are not wireless, but worked quite well.
JellyComb Lightweight Foldable Headphones
Many people do not realize that blue light from phones and tablets can potentially cause irreversible eye damage to children’s eyes that are still developing. To be on the safe side, we bought our 6 year old son inexpensive blue-light filtering glasses, they came with a cute case, stickers, and a cleaning cloth and he ended up loving them. He really wants to protect his eyes and puts them on even when watching TV. Thumbs up and pet on the back to the mom for instilling healthy living habits. And not going to break the bank if the child looses them.

Trampoline
We found a trampoline like this one invaluable for quick breaks between demanding activities to get a refresher and oxygen to the brain in any weather.

Professional Quality Art Supplies
There is a big difference between cheap children’s pencils and high-pigment professional color pencils. We got a set like this three years ago and we still use it today. It gives a great variety for our child to experiment with, they blend well, and his pictures look great.
Prismacolor Premier Soft Pencils – set of 72
This spiral-bound hardcover journal with thick watercolor paper that does not warp like a printer paper when you use paint is our favorite and inspires us to fill every page with the artwork we would want to keep.

Office Tech
You will print a lot of everything, including color images! If your printer takes expensive ink and requires quick refills you will wish you had an Epson Eco-Tank. Wireless printer is a must so that you can print from your phone as well as from your laptop or chromebook in a flash.

Dry-Erase Supplies
A board that is blank on one side and has guides on the other side is great for beginning writers. And eraser attached to the dry-erase marker is a must.
